5 Days Cuyabeno Wildlife and Cultural Adventure

Upon arriving at "El Puente," we will take a break to enjoy our box lunch. Afterward, we will prepare for the journey on a motorized canoe. We will provide rain ponchos and life vests, and your luggage will be protected with plastic in case of rain. During the 2 to 3-hour trip along the narrow Cuyabeno River, you will have the chance to admire the diverse flora and fauna of the Reserve. Once we reach Tapir Lodge, guests will be shown to their rooms to settle in. After dinner, the guide will provide an overview of the Lodge, the Cuyabeno Reserve, and the upcoming activities.

We start the day with breakfast at 07:30 am. After that, we paddle canoes for 1.5 hours to "Laguna Grande" (Big Lake), seeing the rainforest and animals along the way. Then, we take a 3- hour hike on the "Palma Roja" path to look for birds and monkeys. After a lunch break by the lake, we continue canoeing, swim if you want, and enjoy the sunset. We return to Tapir Lodge by 18:00, have dinner, and if the weather is good, take a short night walk to see frogs and other animals.

If the weather is good, we will start early to watch birds along the river. After returning for breakfast, we will meet for a boat ride, looking for butterflies, monkeys, and other animals. We will visit the village of Puerto Bolívar and meet a local Shaman, who will teach us about healing plants. After lunch at his house, we can watch a healing ceremony. Later, we will visit a local family to learn how to make Cassava bread. In the afternoon, we will return to Tapir Lodge. If there's time, we will enjoy the sunset and take a night hike to spot frogs and other animals before dinner.

In the morning, we will take a motorized boat to the beautiful Canagueno Lake, where we will explore by paddle boat. The lake is home to water birds like Jacanas, hoatzins, egrets, and orchids. This activity will last the whole morning, and we will return to Tapir Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, guests can relax and enjoy the sunset over the lake. After dinner, we will have a farewell Passion fruit Cocktail and introduce our hardworking staff who help make the Tapir Lodge experience special.

After breakfast, we will organize your departure from Tapir Lodge, usually around 9:30 AM, depending on weather and river conditions. Our staff will help load your luggage onto the canoe. We will then head back to the bridge, where transportation will be waiting to take you back to Lago Agrio, Coca, or Quito, based on your chosen option. Safe Travels!
